PSA: New Plant-Based Restaurant Is Coming To Gilles Street (Extremely Soon)
Just a short tram ride heading South from bustling Rundle Mall, lies a hive of small cafes, historic hotels and exceptional restaurants. Getting in on the action is the team at Etica Pizza, with their new 100 percent plant-based eatery, Allegra Dining Room, set to open on August 1.
Located above existing Etica Pizza, Allegra is an intimate space fit to seat 28 guests that “captures a balance between a classic dining experience and a novel approach to authenticity,” owners Federico and Melissa Pisanelli share.
The set dinner menu consists of ten courses at $70 per person, making use of seasonal produce. “The menu combines traditional and innovative cooking methods, with a focus on flavour, taking inspiration from local and international techniques,” Melissa says.
“The experience at Allegra is about celebrating what’s in nature in a refined yet relaxed setting,” Melissa continues.
Paired with the evolving, seasonal menu is a wine list which combines classic and contemporary drops, which too will reflect seasonality, making for an all ’round naturalistic experience gleaming with current flavours and fresh tangs.
Head Chef, Elliot Vials says “the aim is to create a menu that respects the produce, giving ingredients the energy and time they deserve, whilst appreciating and preserving the hard work that comes before us.”
If you’re already tempted, Allegra is currently taking reservations via their website, which we’d say are pretty essential given the cosy nature of the space. Otherwise walk-in will be accommodated with the bar menu.
