Ready Set Bake: Grand Opening Of A 100% Vegan Bakery Coming Right Up

Bakeries are no stranger to South Road, and on Saturaday 16 Feb a new addition to the sweet treat scene will be hitting the streets of St Marys, The Baker’s Daughter – thanks to owner, Nicole Parker.

The Baker’s Daughter will be providing 100% vegan goodies for all to indulge, from raw slices, tarts and protein balls, to cookies, brownies and cupcakes, with celebration cakes available to order. Oh and gluten free options are definitely a thing too!

As you may have guessed, Nicole is the daughter of a baker – she grew up with her father who possesses over 35 years of experience in whipping up edible bliss. Although Nicole never dreamed she would follow in his footsteps, we think it’s safe to say we’re in good hands. Especially as Nicole is indeed vegan herself.

Nicole shared The Baker’s Daughter’s story with us –

“In early 2018 I became really passionate about living a vegan lifestyle, and this occurred around the same time I started off providing wholesale. The business was actually a bit of an accident.

“I was working at SAHA on The Parade and I started making the raw slices and protein balls. Then out of the blue another cafe asked if I did wholesale and if I could send through a price list, and I slowly started getting more requests.

“I decided to start veganising all the recipes, and once I realised just how easy it was, I was determined that The Baker’s Daughter would only make vegan products, as I have no desire to use animal products.”

The Baker’s Daughter was initially planned to be a commercial kitchen for wholesale purposes, but after receiving increased interest, a shop front was on the cards.

As for the space, Nicole tells us that it’s “small but comfortable” as she hadn’t planned on customers utilising the premises, but later decided on why the heck not!

“For the time being, I will operate the bakery as take away, however I have set up a little corner with some stools, magazines and table water for those that want to sit and chat.

Febraury 16 will be a grand opening worth attending, as a portion of the profits will be donated to Ginger Ninja Animal Rescue – an Adelaide based volunteer group that take care of stray and abandoned animals.

We hope to see you there between 9:30am and 2:30pm this Saturday!
